The Palms Shopping Mall, Victoria Island, Lagos, came under heavy sound of music recently, as top rated music stars such as South Africa’s Casper Nyovest and American rap sensation O.T Genasis, alongside Nigerian artistes Ice Prince, Eva, Seyi Shay, Jesse Jagz, Victoria Kimani, Reminisce, and Nosa thrilled the audience at the launch concert of Cloud 9 Music platform.

The concert, which brought together guests from different walks of life, saw the music stars take their turns on the big stage to treat the crowd to the best of their recordings. From Ice Prince to Eva, Seyi Shay, Jesse Jagz, Victoria Kimani, Reminiscence and Nosa, the night bubbled, with DJ Casie and Spinall in charge of the wheels of steel. For the visiting stars, it was an opportunity to hook up with their Nigerian fans, as well as savour the rich Naija vibes live.

Particularly, fans could not get enough of the 27-year-old South African, who headlined the concert, as he kept everybody on their toes all through his session on stage.

Prior to the concert proper, Casper had played host to a cream of entertainment writers in Lagos, where he expressed his pleasure being invited to play in Nigeria for the launch of Cloud 9. Having played in Nigeria before, it was more like homecoming for the rapper.

“This is my third time in Nigeria and this is also my biggest show in Nigeria so far. I look forward to performing to the hip crowd that would be at the launch of Cloud 9 tomorrow. I also look forward to performing alongside Nigeria’s biggest music stars like Ice Prince, Reminisce and Olamide,” he said at the briefing.

Incidentally, Casper, who won two awards (Best Artist In African Hip Hop And Best Male Artist In Southern Africa) at the All Africa Music Awards, AFRIMA, last month, says he appreciates especially Olamide’s artistry and street savvy because they bear a lot of semblance to his own.

“A lot of people see similarity between myself and Olamide. Maybe it’s because we represent the street in our music,” he said.

Speaking at the event, Tola Odunsi, Content Aggregator for Cloud 9 described the portal as an integrated mobile music platform, which offers music lovers the best of Nigerian and international music, as well as a host of other features that enhance their music experience.

“This platform offers unique end-to-end experiential music performances from iconic musicians and upcoming breakthrough artists, thus giving individuals and businesses the cloud experience,” he said.

On the mechanics of the platform, international booking agent, Hakeem Condotti said accessing the platform is very easy.

“All you need is to have a data-enabled mobile device, and that’s it. It is available via WAP and Web, as well as mobile apps. The app can also be downloaded from the Google Play and Windows App Stores,” he said.

Cloud 9 is a subscriber-based platform, but user will need to subscribe to the music platform to download content to his/her device. Meanwhile, a free 10MB data bundle is automatically allocated to users, who subscribe to the platform.
