We benefited much from Buhari, says Adamawa APC
Rejects Atiku’s presidential bid
Former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar will have to start mobilising from his Adamawa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) if he hopes to run for the presidency on the platform of the party in 2019.
This is hinged on the fact that the state chapter of APC has endorsed President Muhammadu Buhari and his vice, Prof. Yemi Osibanjo for the 2019 general elections.
The decision of the party is coming few months after the governor through his chief of staff, Alhaji Abdullraman Abba Jimeta, endorsed Atiku for 2019 presidential race.
The state chairman of Buhari/Osibanjo campaign group, Alhaji Yahaya Hamajulde while presenting the posters of the president and his vice for the 2019 presidential election to the party’s executives said, “The state’s chapter cannot afford to support any candidate in the party outside the duo.”
Hamajulde, who is also a former Adviser to erstwhile Governor Murtala Nyako, said that those APC members campaigning in secret to unseat Buhari/Osibanjo are not only wasting their time, but that they are planting where they will not harvest.
His words: “The favour this government has done to Adamawa in terms of appointments is something it cannot joke with in the name of politics. Those that want to be president on the ticket of the party should wait after 2023, when Buhari/Osibanjo would have completed their two terms.”
Explaining why Adamawa would queue behind the incumbent president and his vice, Hamajulde said, “The Secretary to Government of the Federation (SGF) is from Adamawa, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) minister is from Adamawa, the Personal Assistant to the President is from here, the director general, National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) is from Adamawa and many other appointments, so the people of the state has no reason not to return the president and his vice come 2019.”
While commending the group, the state chairman of the party, Alhaji Ibrahim Bilai, said those that were voted on the platform of the party, but abandoned it would harvest what they planted during their leaderships.
He however reserved comments on the fate of Governor Umaru Jibrilla Bindow but said that APC will no longer tolerate those that want to use the party’s platform for their personal interest at the detriment of Nigerians.
Furthermore, he said, “We know the attitude of all those we voted and we are going to give them the result of their examination come 2019. Some of them will be told to withdraw from contesting, some would be asked to return; it all depends on what they planted.”
Bilai who accused some state government officials of creating problems in the party, warned that he is ready to tackle anyone that attempts to cause trouble in the party.
According to him, “Those that run into Adamawa APC to get appointment should be careful.”
