When unity is fostered among students through sports

Networking with others is one of the avenues to deepens one’s knowledge, keep abreast of current affairs and expand contacts’ base, among others. And there are many ways to do this.

Although children are brought together through such platforms as quiz competitions, parties and exchange visits, the recent sports jamboree organised by the Chrisland Schools for several secondary schools in Lagos State, has proved that sports can also be used to foster unity among students.

Participating in sports has been identified as one of the ways to enable children embrace the spirit of sportsmanship and healthy competition. And it is one of the reasons schools usually organise inter-house sports.

So, bringing together as many school pupils as possible to enable them engage in sports, while interacting and having fun, was simply a beautiful way to foster unity and friendship. And if this is sustained, the effect could be much more than envisaged, as the children are likely to nurture and take this further into the future.
