For women to actualise their dreams and progress in a world seemingly dominated by men, the need to network and collaborate with other people has been emphasised.

“This is not the time for isolationism: it is time we reached across the aisle, reach out to people with like minds for collaboration and networking,” said Mercy Makinde, the founder of Amazing Amazon Initiative a Nigeriam non-governmental organisation with focus on action-based women empowerment, Iaspire Radio and Crane Travel and Tours.

Makinde said this while announcing orgnaisation’s partnership with Women Advancement Forum (WAF) taking place in Johannesburg, South Africa in October.

“Women Advancement Forum offers Nigerian women an avenue of meeting women from across the world who are looking to business. It is a way of expanding their network and circle of influence.

“Moreover, registering for the Forum through Crane Travel and Tours comes with a great discount that will go along a way in encouraging participation. But, as I am concerned, emphasise should be on the gains of participation,” She said.

According to Ms. Sibonisile Mthiyane, Conference Director, WAF is Africa’s most attended gender advocacy conference and has consistently for the 5th edition made its foot print indelible as the formidable platform for deliberations and formulation of affirmative issues affecting the gender equality, advancement, empowerment, and sustainable approach to motivating and inspiring women of Africa. Also, since 2010 WAF has also become the annual rallying point for women of different race, and age on issues regarding women economic empowerment in business and global partnerships through the one-on-one business meetings (B2B match making meetings), and business networking luncheon.”

WAF 2016 is billed to focus on role of society in improving access to socio-economic and political participation, gender equality, women emancipation, and capacity building.

“WAF is the conference to indulge being developed exclusively for women, however men are welcome – providing words of wisdom and creating platforms to let your voice be heard on gender issues. WAF platform gives you the opportunity to share your life experiences with others and reveals in the shared success of other women,” the organisers of the Forum said on their website.

At the 2016 WAF & Awards over 30 men and women are expected to deliver inspirational presentations, and lead delegates through 13 articulated parallel workshops, and 6 panel sessions to boost the capacity of women for the world’s transformation through women empowerment and advancement. Over 500 attendees are expected with singular purpose of taking affirmative stand on sustainable development goals and the transformation of the world.
