The Lagos State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Hon. Lola Akande has declared that the war on Domestic Violence (DV) in the State is a responsibility of everybody and must be fought by all and sundry in order to rid the society of the menace which not only maims but has already claimed the lives of several women and children in the State.

Akande made the declaration recently at the Ostral Hall, Ikeja during the closing ceremony of a Three-Day Training Programme organised by the Ministry for forty Primary Health Centre (PHC) workers from selected Local Government Councils and Local Council Development Areas of Lagos State.

She urged participants to utilize the knowledge gained at the training as their own arsenal in combating the war on domestic violence declared by the present administration through the Ministry.
Responding on behalf of the health workers, Dr.Oreagba Ajayi from Ikate PHC, Eti-Osa expressed appreciation to the State Government and the Ministry for organising the training, adding that they will be better armed with the necessary information on how to medically care for the Gender Based Violence (GBV) victims/survivors without destroying the concrete evidence germane to prosecuting the perpetrators of the act and ultimately bringing them to book.He however appealed to the Ministry to extend the training to all relevant health workers in both private and public hospitals across the State for effectiveness.
