Women in Management, Business and Public Service (WIMBIZ), will hold its 15th annual lecture on Thursday, March 10 at Shell Hall, Muson Centre, Lagos.

Former governor of Ekiti State and current Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr Kayode Fayemi is expected to deliver talks at the event which has as its theme, “Crisis of Values: Reclaiming Our Society.”

According to WIMBIZ, the theme of this year’s lecture was borne out of the need to address the dearth of values in the country.
“Our value system as a Nation is being called to question. Ethics and values that once defined our society are no longer held in high esteem. Consequently, our moral fabric is wearing thin, leading to a society in which lack of regard for values thrives. Many of the challenges confronting us today are a result of compounded degeneration over the years.

“These include, but are not limited to, our ‘get rich mentality’, utilization of money as a measure of success, individualism over common good and loss of regard for human life or dignity.”

The Annual Lecture’s focus is to get people, particularly women to rethink their values as change agents and bearers of moral ideals. The objective is to move participants past the base level of money to self-actualization and challenge them to rethink their definitions of success by looking inwards in an effort to understand what other metrics with which they can define themselves and still have a sense of self-fulfilment, particularly in the age of economic strife.

The Lecture also seeks to emphasize the importance of tempering individualism with concern for the common good, leading to the restoration of fundamental values such as respect, consideration for others, living a life of integrity, service and justice, ultimately creating a good society.
