APC, PDP disagree over alleged plot to disqualify Buhari

APC had earlier alleged in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed of a plot to procure a judgement to disqualify its presidential candidate today when the Federal High Court in Abuja is expected to rule on the issue, warning that those thinking of such “satanic” move should perish the idea in the interest of the country.

OPPOSITION All Progressives Congress (APC) and the ruling Peoples Democratic Party yesterday disagreed over an alleged plot to disqualify APC’s presidential candidate, Major General Muhammadu Buhari to pave the way for an easy victory for President Goodluck Jonathan or even another postponement of the elections.

Mohammed said those nursing the idea of using the back door to stop Buhari from contesting in the Saturday presidential poll simply do not want the sustenance of democratic governance in the country.

APC alleged, ‘’If it is true, as it is being widely speculated across the country, that the Jonathan administration has procured a judgement to disqualify the APC presidential candidate today, when the Federal High Court in Abuja is expected to rule on the issue, then it portends a great danger for our country.

It said, “In addition to other reasons, the six-week postponement of the elections may have been used by those who never wanted the polls to hold in the first instance to shop for such a satanic judgement.

However, in a swift reply, Director of Media and Publicity of the PDP Presidential Campaign Organisation (PDPPCO), Chief Femi Fani-Kayode said APC spokesperson, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has told yet another lie about the speculated disqualification.

Fani-Kayode said, “What on earth is our business with Buhari’s court case? We know that he does not have a certificate and that he was not eligible to contest but we have moved on from there and we are ready to meet him in the field. The truth is that the APC are suffering from all manner of paranoia and they have lost touch with reality.

“Frankly they deserve to be pitied. They see government conspiracies everywhere and they have become prisoners of their own wild hallucinations. The truth is that we are not in the least bit interested in General Buhari’s travails at the court and we are not in a position to influence the decision of the judge or the outcome of the case one way or the other.

Meanwhile, Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court, Lagos yesterday granted a motion filed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) seeking to be joined as a co-defendant to a suit filed by the Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN).

UPN had filed the suit to compel the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to list candidates of the party for March 28 and April 11 general elections.

The trial judge also granted a similar application filed by the APC’s presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari seeking to be joined as a co-defendant to the suit.

While ruling on the motion for joinder, Justice Abang held that ‎assuming without deciding that the suit succeeds, the implication would be that all the electoral materials already printed and distributed by INEC in preparation for the elections would have to be destroyed and new ones printed.

APC guys are in trouble.Buhari should be allowed to contest so that in future there will not be requirement from any contestant again.

Lai Mohammed is wrong to use the word ‘procured’ because Buhari didn’t attach his certificate as the electoral act requires, rather he perjured by swearing on oath that his certificate was with the Military which turned out to be untrue. This is the pure reality but looking at the National mood, the court may just tread softly and pretend all is well even though that is a bad precedence in my honest opinion

My man, u make my day. U have said it All. u are an intelligent chap. No more to add. let Lai Mohammed and his co-traveller be deceiving themselves. Buhari lied on oath. simple but becos of the mood of the Nation the learned judge may look the other way to allow peace to reign. My thumb up for u again.

What if the certificate issue was the other way round? Trust Nigerians , they will tell you GEJ cannot run for an election and should be disqualified. Now they are telling us the certificate issue is not important. Which way Nigeria?

…as bad as allowing Jonathan to continue in office after the judges found out he lost the last election to Buhari?

if Buhari did not submit a school leaving certificate to INEC. I wonder the kind of change he wants to impact in Nigeria…How will he face corruption? Our elders says charity begins at home. To gain admission into any Nigeria University one must have 5credit that include Maths and English …Remember Former Speaker Sanusi Buhari was impeach for certificate forgery….from Toronto

Why the hubbub over Buhari’s certificate?’

    SIR: Does a degree automatically
make an individual a great leader? If it does how come Winston Churchill with
no academic degree and with poor results in high school but armed with a
military training could mobilize his countrymen and western allies to end the
second world war, better yet, he was able to rise up to become prime minister
of the United Kingdom, and authored many books and even won a Nobel prize in
    literature?

If it does, how come late Alhaji
Sabo Bakin-Zuwo with barely formal education, a man who could scarcely speak
the English language could defeat an incumbent governor of Kano State in the
1980s, the late Alhaji Abubakar Rimi who was, well-educated and sharp?

If it does how come Nigerians see
statesmen with various graduate degrees that still find it challenging to read
speeches they did not help prepare with superfluous intermittent breaks leading
many a people to question the authenticity of their degrees?

Nigeria today has gone to a most
pitiful level of decadence where advisers do not properly guide statesmen to
concentrate on issues based electioneering. We have quickly forgotten that the
presidential system requires hard work and only people with vision are chosen
    as advisers.

It appears that our country has gone
out of control and we haven’t learnt anything from the civil war that should
make us live forever in peace just the way great aspiring nations have done in
    recent history.

If Alhaji Shehu Shagari could grant
a presidential pardon to Emeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu as a sign of national
reconciliation, why can’t the political class leave General Muhammadu Buhari
be, get down to brass-tacks and engage in politics of issues not Jibber-Jabber
    to move our country forward?

Tunde Thompson a moment ago as
reported in the media has chosen to forgive the general for his detention
during his reign and even advised well-meaning Nigerians to do same for peace.

    Would our degree-certified
politicians and their bogeymen stop the politics of character assassination in
    our body politic?

It was Winston Churchill who said
and I believe it is true that, “sometimes it is not enough to do our best; we
    must do what is required.”

What is required for our country, to
lift us out of lassitude is not diversionary campaigns by raising a certificate
war-cry against the general, what is required is not to have politicians divert
and pull the wool over the eyes of a trusting follower-ship, what is required
    is not scape-goating clowning around.

What is required for nation building
are leaders with vision, countries are as great as their leaders. Nigerians
need foodstuffs and good governance and accountability and not words.

We ask for leaders who can provide
us with security, so that we all can travel across all space without fear, for
Nigeria can never be great if she cannot provide internal security as well as
security around her borders. Leaders who can banish ethnicity and
indigene-ship, so bad that people at festive seasons in states other than that
of their forebears say that they are travelling home.

    Ironically, most of these persons
were born in these states, pay taxes there, that notwithstanding, the systemic
discrimination prevents them from being assimilated into these states and this
happens all across the country. They can vote for indigenes but cannot be voted
    for.

    The armies of degree qualified
politicians and their lieutenants have let us down by not campaigning on
issues, not seeing their opponents regardless of gender, language or religious
link as one indivisible Homo sapiens and build into the Nigerian consciousness
the concept of kindness and charity which is truly lacking at the present time.

If they mean well to stamp out
ill-will which has been with us since independence, then they must learn to see
members of the opposing parties as people who hold different views and not
    enemies.

The problem with Nigeria has always
been that of a visionless political class and this explains significantly why
    we are not united.

You r really funny. If a degree does not matter why don’t you employ a carpenter to work in a bank, A welder to be a medical doctor, a farmer to drill crude. Come on Nigerians face the truth and do not be lairs to yourselves. Just vote who ever you deem fit, but don’t tell us education is not important, then don’t allow any member of you family to be educated. Your views are childish and out-dated .

      • Author’s gravatar

Does it mean anyone without a degree is not educated?
Mind you there is what we call level of education!!
What is the minimum qualification expected for someone to contest for president in Nigeria according to the constitution? This simply will tell us who is eligible and who’s not.
A carpenter can work in a bank if he/she has the right qualification.
You are one of the problems of Nigeria? Change your thinking as its bad to pass this onto your coming generation
If Buhari says he has certificate but cannot prove it then let him be disqualified.
Lets stop beating about the bush.

Can you compare Jonathan’s speeches with those of Buhari in terms grammatical correctness and embedded intelligence. Check out the London’s speech by Buhari and the “Goat & Yam” speech by Jonathan and tell us who seems to know what education means. I wonder what you all gain by trying to distort the fact that Buhari is NOT in any way or form close to being an illiterate. Someone who attended the prestigious US war college is not in any way close to illiteracy but goes to bed with intelligence and leadership ability. Well, If Patience Jonathan with her over-dose of ignorance can call Buhari an illiterate, I wonder why those of her likes will not do the same.

      • Author’s gravatar

Don’t you have chartered accountants counting money for illiterate traders. It seems you lack logic in your reasoning. What matters is some’s leadership ability. I have people with doctorate degree working with me and under me. We all need each other to attain the level of success required of us in a project. The same goes for Nigeria. By all ramifications, Jonathan is not a good leader or ruler as can be seen in his conducts and his inability to make sound decisions. In contrast, Buhari has demonstrated that he has what it takes even it means taking leadership to the extreme. I don’t know how old you are as you utterances give you out as a young man. I will advice you to please search and know about Buhari and do not allow your knowledge to be shaped by stories fabricated in beer parlours and PDP campaigns aimed at assassinating the General’s character. I have investigated both and thus my honest advice.

dufranx, we stand to learn from each other and that is the beauty of the forum. Please can lis for me the achievements of Buhari during his tenure as the head of state and the Chairman of PTF.Taking note that as the head of State he jailed fomer vice president Alex ekwueme for 300 years while he put Shagari who was the president on house arrest. He was the person that introduced school fees in University system even though we have oil windfall. And as Chairman of the PTF Abacha looted Biilions of dollars from oil windfall under his watch. However he did not resign the appointement to show that he was not corrupt. I stand to be corrected in your reply.

The problem is not that he does not have those certificates, but that he chose to lie about it. all those people U called never had to lie about their qualifications. There is a laid down processdure, and a law.

What is wrong if the man deposed to affidavit that he honestly beliefs that a copy of his certificate is with the military & he couldn’t find the original? – is It not a known fact that he rose to the rank of a general in this military. Even the school he attended attested. He mentioned a well known public figure as his classmate – has anyone debunked this claim? If Nigeria wants Buhari, please let him be!

PLEASE OZEKHOME WHY NOT GIVE YOUR CLIENTS SOUND LEGAL ADVICE AND TELL THEM THAT THEY ARE SKATING ON A VERY THIN AND VERY DELICATE LEGAL ICE AND THAT THEY ARE STANDING ON AN EXTREMELY VERY WEAK AND ONO LEGGED LEGAL STOOL. IT IS ALL EXERCISE IN FUTILITY AND BY LEGAL RASCALS. BUHARI IS NOT ONLY A FIT AND PROPER PERSON TO CONTEST FOR THE OFFICE OF PRESIDENT. HE IS ALSO A VERY WILLING, A VERY READY AND VERY ABLE PERSON TO BE PRESIDENT OF NIGERIA AND HE IS VERY LEGALLY QUALIFIED TO CONTEST THE ELECTION AND BE ELECTED TO BE THE PRESIDENT OF NIGERIA. BUHARI IS A WELL DECORATED GENERAL THAT WENT THROUGH THE RANKS, WITH PROMOTIONS, EXAMINATIONS, TRAINING IN VERY HIGHLY RESPECTED MILITARY INSTITUTIONS IN NIGERIA, THE UNITED KINGDOM, THE USA AND IN OTHER PARTS OF THE WORLD. BUHARI WAS A FORMER HEAD OF STATE AND HAS HEADED MOST VERY SENSITIVE PARTS OF OUR MILITARY. THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENT TO BE COMMISSIONED INTO THE MILITARY IS WASC OR ITS EQUIVALENT AND BUHARI WAS COMMISSIONED WHEN THE BRITISH WERE ALMOST AT THE HELM IN OUR MILITARY. SO NOBODY AND I SAY NO BODY MUST BE ALLOWED TO RUBBISH OUR VERY GREAT MILITARY BY VERY USELESS LAW SUITS PR INSINUATIONS. BUHARI HAS CONTESTED THE SAME ELECTION ON THREE OCCASIONS WITH THE SAME ELECTORAL LAWS AND THE SAME CONSTITUTION IN THE PAST. IN LAW THERE IS WHAT IS CALLED THE SQUATTERS LAW AND IF ALL THE ABOVE FAIL THE SQUATTER LAW WILL KICK IN AND BE FACTORED IN. SO THESE LEGAL RAGAMUFFINS AND NIT WITS MUST GIVE US A BREAK. THE HANDS OF THE PDP ARE ALL OVER THE PLACES, BECAUSE OF DESPERATION AND PANIC AND THEY THINK THAT THEY CAN REPEAT WHAT ARTHUR NZERIBE DID WITH ABN IN THE ABACHA REGIME. SHAME ON ALL OF THEM

The truth remains that if someone that cant prove the authenticity of his Certificate is allowed to run for the post of the Office of the President, on what basis are we fighting corruption in the nation called Nigeria and what foundation are we laying for the future of Democracy in the Country ?

This will certainly encourage others to follow the foot steps of Buhari thereby causing the future of Democracy and the Nigeria polity to become bleak.

What their change is all about is to unseat the president which have backfired on Tinubu with Lagos state. Now he has lost Lagos state. Change has started and it started with Lagos state. No matter what, APC can never win Lagos state. Lagos is so diversified and you can call it no mans land.
