Fans React: It’s Not Coming Home, England
It was a delight when the biggest surprise of the Russia 2018 World Cup Croatia beat England 2-1, to become a first-time finalist.
Croatia has struggled since their third place win at the France 1998 to go beyond group stages. For England, it was their only hope to move on to the final to reclaim the trophy they had won in 1996. With waistcoats making rounds in England and the saying “it’s coming home” chanted by its citizens, the second goal by Mario Mandzukic dealt a devastating blow on the English team and ended their Russia 2018 World Cup dreams.
