Superhero-packed “Avengers: Infinity War” dominated the box office with a record $250 million haul, giving it the biggest domestic opening weekend of all time, according to boxofficemojo.com.

“Infinity War,” which opened over the weekend (April 27-29) stars Robert Downey Jr., Benedict Cumberbatch, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Evans and Josh Brolin, surpassed “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” as the film with the opening weekend draw in North America. ‘Star Wars’ brought in $248 million when it debuted in 2015.

Avengers brings together 20 superheroes including Iron Man, Captain America, Spider-Man, Black Widow and Black Panther for an all-out battle with supervillain Thanos.

Paramount’s ‘A Quiet Place’ took second place with weekend box office of $10,650 million. The Amy Schumer comedy ‘I Feel Pretty’ took the third sport with a a box office haul of $8.1 million.

Dwayne Johnson’s ‘Rampage’ was in fourth place with $7.1 million over the weekend.

‘Black Panther’ was a testament to the allure of the superhero genre, taking the fifth spot with nearly $4.4 million in its nearly three months in theaters.
