The 21-year-old pop star beat fellow nominees Khalid, Lil Uzi Vert, Julia Michaels and SZA for the coveted award. Alessia Cara released her debut album Know-It-All in November 2015 after the successful release of her first EP Four Pink Walls in August of the same year.
She was recently featured on Logic’s song addressing depression titled 1-800-273-8255 alongside fellow nominee Khalid.
