4 Things We Discard That Would Make Awesome Decors
These days even the mundane items you haven’t used in a while-that’s just lying around the house–is probably someone else’s creative tool for aesthetics. You can create some of the most beautiful decorations for your home or garden by simply modifying the items you would originally throw away-since ideally, we are meant to throw things we no longer use and can’t sell, away. Nevertheless, this might not apply to every item we own.
The weekend is a good time to engage your creative mind. As we prepare to retire to the comfort of our homes, here are some DIY creative ideals you can engage yourself with this weekend and give that garden or room of yours a new touch. Please read on…
- Turn those Wine Bottles into Light Stands
This would be easier if you are big at wine drinking. So if you are someone like that, I’m just thinking out loud, what would you do with the plenty leftover wine bottles? Would you put them in a recycle bin and let them away? Or would you craft some household objects with it? A good place to start is to create stunning chandeliers, lamp stands, flower stands, etc. I’m sure we can do more than just these. We probably haven’t fathomed the rest yet.
Meanwhile, except you are good with your hands, you might need the professional service of some bottle slicers to give a clean cut. When you are done with the art works, use it to dress up your room for a charming bottle lighting flare.
Tools you will need: tile cutter, stained-glass saw or diamond-bladed wet saw and a power drill with a glass-cutting tip.
- Make some Sofas with those Car Tires
Tires are a huge headache when it comes to waste management and recycling. Moreover, there are clever DIY ways that we can reuse tires and save them from leaching toxic chemicals into our environment. Again, since they are capable of emitting harmful toxins, it wouldn’t be good idea to use them to plant edible plants, but many other applications should be OK, especially if they will be covered in some way or won’t be touched too often.
Tools you will need: Paints, Cutters, spanners, etc.
- How about those Pallets adding beauty to your Porch?
If you by any chance have some old pallets lying around, or you know where to find them cheap, you could turn them into something useful. For instance, if you have a garden, balcony or a front porch, you could make a few furniture pieces using pallets.
Tools you will need: First off, sanding the wood is a must do. Again, a beautiful paint should be handy as this will make it smoother, more attractive and rightly in shape; more-so, it will help protect any cloth from being damaged. Again, you would also need some cushions and a pair of screws for tightening. Once you are finished with sanding, you can paint the wood in any colour, or just put a coat of protective polish. Then, depending on how many pieces you want, you can create two-seater chairs, T-faced chairs or simply a corner sofa for a more comfortable seating experience.
- Long Tennis Racket Mirrors
Perhaps you have loads of leftover rackets from playing long tennis. Don’t bother trying to throw them away as you can put them into good use while giving your room a good touch. This is how: Get some clean cut translucent glasses, gather those leftover rackets; don’t bother removing the racket strings, just sandwich them between the mirror glass and MDF board with silicon-adhesives – this makes them sturdier and less fussy.
Again, to cut the glasses to size –you might also need to leave it for the professionals. It is ridiculously difficult to cut the mirror glass to an exact oval shape and even harder when the form is twisted out of shape with years of use. So for a perfect fitting you might need to be extra careful. With this in mind, you can make new a big wooden picture frame or simply decorative mirrors. Remember not to use glue. Silicon adhesive is your best bet as it does not corrode the silver mirror coating.
These are probably a few hacks on interior decorations you can try out anytime, feel free to let your imaginative thoughts go wild and it might just surprise you what creative abilities are hidden, right inside of you!
