Sam Rockwell has just won the Oscar awards for Best Supporting Actor for “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri,” with one of the night’s top films picking up the first award.

Rockwell played the role of racist police officer Jason Dixon in the dark crime comedy film.

He bested his co-star Woody Harrelson, Willem Dafoe (“The Florida Project”), Richard Jenkins (“The Shape of Water”) and Christopher Plummer (“All the Money in the World”).

“You guys rock. You have inspired me, you always have,” Rockwell said to his fellow nominees Sunday as he accepted the award.
