Ozinna

Known for her stylish ways, Ozinna Anumudu talks about being passionate about “two things”- fashion and branding.

After obtaining a BA in Economics from George Washington University in the United States and Master’s in Communications from the Paris institute of Political Studies, she relocated to Nigeria where she started The Style Concierge, a brand management company rhat caters to fashion and lifestyle brands. Subsequently in 2016, she decided to start Ozinna.com, which showcases her “fashion, inspirations, work and everything inbetween.” She has collaborated with companies such as Lady Bidba, Lamre da Silva and Maju.
The brand management company is a Style Concierge caters to creatives; businesses in the fashion and lifestyle industry and is known to collaborate with companies such as Lady biba, Lanre Da Silva and TSC.

Anumudu also runs her brand, Ozinna.com.

How did you initially become interested in fashion and styling? Was this the career path you have planned?
No, it was never a career path. After I finished my Masters, I decided to do NYSC in an advertising agency. During this period, I started growing a following on social media with my fashion and style. This in turn made a lot of fashion brands approach me for promotions. Instead of just wearing their clothes, I opted to apply my skill set with branding – in promoting the clothing and their brands.

How did you start building your brand and identity in the industry?
This journey began in January 2015 when I moved home. I made a conscious effort to discover Nigerian brands and what they had to offer. I was part of the production team for Lagos Fashion And Design Week in 2014. This made me realize I was passionate about the Nigerian fashion scene and decided to pursue a career in the space.

Are there any ups or downs for you?
Definitely! There are several downs, nothing absolutely nothing goes according to plan. However, always planning keeps you organized. I am constantly researching and discovering new ideas to keep me going. Nothing compares to feeding one’s mind and creativity.

Do your life experiences or background have anything to do with your work?
I am a workaholic. I always assumed this was normal, until the people around me said I work too much! Growing up in a household, with both parents working daily from 9am till evening, made me realize that building a brand and hopefully an empire, takes long hours and dedication.

Give us some tips on finding clothes in Nigeria, what are your top stores to check out?
41 Luxe Lagos, Temple Muse, Grey Velvet I believe are the top retail stores in Lagos – and of course Ozinna.com for fast Nigerian fashion. For tips, I’d say follow Bellanaijastyle where you are able to see a variety of Nigerian fashion brands.

Tell us about any exciting project you have planned for the year
An exciting project I’ve been working on is the ozinna.com website. Ozinna.com is a medium where I share my work, my fashion, inspiration and everything in between. There’s also a shop section where viewers can shop my favourite brands. As the website approaches its one year anniversary in October, the reception has been incredible. I’ve decided to expand the shop and its reach.

Interesting facts about yourself, especially relating to your work?
I’m a twin and I’m obsessed with football.
