One thing all people should have as a part of their fashion arsenal is an abundance of accessories. Male or female, accessories have the magical ability of not only making or breaking an outfit, but also completely revamping old pieces. Growing up, it was said that when you’re feeling particularly flush, you can never go wrong with investing in good quality accessories, be it a leather bag or a pair of classic pumps.  And while that remains true, there’s nothing quite like picking up a new pair of earrings, or the perfect pair of sliders whenever you feel like a pick-me-up.

Accessory brands have always been locally available albeit sometimes difficult to find, however the recent explosion of local brands across the fashion industry means that there’s a plethora of easily accessible brands to choose from when you’re craving a fashion fix. So, if you’d rather your money went to a Nigerian company, check out some of the very best Nigerian owned brands who are making great waves in the accessories world.

For Her…

 Zashadu

Focusing on the sustainable aspect of fashion, Zashadu produces lust-worthy hand-crafted pieces. Using locally sourced leathers and exotic skins, the end results are unique bags that are hugely recognisable due to the signature Zashadu style. If you don’t own at least one of their bags, it’s high time that you changed that!

Ivy Barber

Deciding that it was time there was an affordable footwear brand who provided customers with every day styles, Ivy Barber was created.  Using locally sourced leather, the brand’s focus is to provide customers with two key styles in an always-changing range of colours.  However, a word of advice if you spy a pair you like, buy them as it’s almost certain that when you check again, they’ll be gone!

Raya

Born from the designer’s love of chunky and colourful jewellery, Raya has emerged as a fun and sophisticated brand that’s just as suitable for weekdays as it is for owambe weekends!  From earrings and necklaces, to rings and bracelets all using semi-precious stones, every taste is catered for. The thing we love the most? The limited production quantities mean you’re unlikely to see people in the same pieces as you!

Unisex – Dap Mod

Catering for both men and women, Dap Mod is the go to sunglasses brand for everyone who knows about the brand. Selling all shapes from classic oversized to transparent circle frames with a reflective lens, Dap Mod makes it impossible to visit the store and leave with just one pair!

Lolu

Believing nothing is more appealing than a well-dressed person, Lolu focuses on producing pieces that combine style, confidence and charm. Fusing African and British fashion, it’s clear in the finished styles that the bespoke styles are perfect for customers with discernment and class.

For Him – David Wej

With quite arguably the largest accessories range for men in Nigeria, David Wej has well and truly established himself as THE menswear brand.  From ties and tie pins, to cufflinks and socks, he well and truly caters to all your accessory needs.  Perfect when you need to make a last minute dash to get a pair of cufflinks!
