Turn up to a Week of Free Concerts, Events at Make Music Lagos 2018

The moment music fans have been waiting for is finally here as the Make Music Lagos 2018 organizing team kicks off its 1 week-long celebration of World Music Day in the city of Lagos.

The moment music fans have been waiting for is finally here as the Make Music Lagos 2018 organizing team kicks off its 1 week-long celebration of World Music Day in the city of Lagos.

First on the list is Mass Appeal, which is a live performance by a diverse group of instrumentalists and bands playing to the 2018 MML Theme Song composed by Alternate Sound, at the newly opened JJT (Johnson Jakande Tinubu) Park in Alausa. ADMISSION IS FREE, so we encourage all Lagosians to turn-up.

Next on the list are the Learn to Play events, which runs from the 19th to 21st of June at Lagos State Education District 1, Agege and on World Music Day (Thursday 21st June) at Ikeja City Mall and Domino’s Pizza locations in Yaba and Lekki (Admiralty 2) from noon to 2pm. If you’ve ever wanted to learn to play drums or the guitar, then you need to be at these venues. ADMISSION IS FREE!

Also on the list are the Learn to DJ events, a teaching initiative that gives aspiring DJs the opportunity to learn from DJ Jimmy Jatt, DJ Nana, DJ Magnum and other leading DJs, takes place on World Music Day (Thursday 21st June) at Ikeja City Mall from 2pm to 5pm and the University of Lagos (UNILAG) from 2pm to 4pm.

And the aspiring producers and artists are not left as the Street Studio events take place on World Music Day (Thursday 21st June) at the University of Lagos (UNILAG) from noon to 2pm and Domino’s Pizza locations in Yaba and Lekki (Admiralty 2) from 2pm to 4pm. Leading Nigerian producers like VC Perez, Fliptyce, Olaitan Dada and PSykes etc. will be on hand to share production insights and produce beats.

And if enjoying a good variety of music is your thing, then you need to be at one of the Make Music Lagos 2018 concerts on World Music Day (Thursday 21st June) at the following venues: Bogobiri, Freedom Park, Hard Rock Café, Ikeja City Mall, MUSON Centre, University of Lagos (UNILAG), and Domino’s Pizza/Cold Stone locations in FESTAC, Oko Oba, Ogudu, Ikorodu, Surulere, Victoria Island (Ajose Adeogun), Ajah and Lekki Phase One (Admiralty).

The last and biggest of them all is the Lagos Shutdown which is the finale event for Make Music Lagos 2018 and it comes up on Sunday the 24th of June at the Muri Okunola Park,Victoria Island from 4pm to 10pm. Already confirmed for the Lagos Shutdown are the following artists: from Waje, Johnny Drille, Praiz, Vector, Tim Godfrey, Folabi Nuel. Plus we also have some surprise a-list artists lined up. You don’t want to be told about the Lagos Shutdown so make it a date. Admission is FREE, but you need to check the MML website for registration details.
