We often use hand sanitizers to clean our hands when soap and water are not accessible. However, commercial hand sanitizer can get quite expensive and a lot risky when frequently used due to presence of heavy chemicals. Ingredients

·         5-10 drops of Peppermint, lavender essential oil, tea tree, or cinnamon oil.

·         30 drops tea tree essential oil (this is a 0.5% concentration)

·         1 Tablespoon high-proof vodka. (Some people prefer to use witch hazel extract)

·         8 ounces 100% pure aloe vera gel

·         ¼ teaspoon Vitamin E oil. It helps to soften hands serving as a natural preservative also to increase shelf life.

Method

Add peppermint, tea tree, cinnamon or lavender essential oil with Vitamin E oil to a small finger spray bottle and whirl to mix together. Add alcohol to the oils and swirl again. Add this mixture to the aloe vera gel and shake well. Your hand sanitizer is ready for use. Ensure you shake gently before each use.

This sanitizer recipe should last several months with the addition of Vitamin E to help preserve. With this recipe, you can start making your own quick dough per bottle. It is safe, easy to make, chemical free and still very much effective at killing germs!
