Why Men Should Indulge In Skin Care

Ever wondered what the world would look like without water? Or what it would look like without food? Your guess is as good as mine! Certain things are a necessity and it doesn’t matter the gender. We live in a society where beauty, skin care and even fashion to a large extent are attributed to women. Although some schools of thought may want to differ on the notion that skin care products are as important to women as it is to men, I still stick to my point and here are my reasons:

 Prevention of Odour

I believe even men were created with underarms, not just women. Men sweat just as much as, if not more than, women. The purpose of deodorant is to ensure your underarms stay dry and fresh. Unless you happen to be a man without underarms, or one who enjoys the smell of sweat and dirt, then there’s no shame in using deodorant.

 Cleansing

Cleansing the skin! Whether you are male or female, in your teens or elderly – it is incredibly important. It removes the dirt your skin naturally picks up throughout the day. It keeps your pores clean preventing black heads and spots. It is, in layman’s terms, one part of your skin care regime that nobody can afford to miss!

Skin Blemishes

I can confidently say everyone has struggled with blemishes at some point in life – acne, eczema and the likes.  Whether it’s the odd spot that you got, or you have suffered from a more intense one, we’ve all been there and this is the one problem that skincare and lifestyle changes can really make a huge difference to. Some men have these blemishes in large proportion and still don’t bother to clear it all out. Now as a man, you don’t want to walk around with visible blemishes!

Ageing

I think ageing is something that most only begin to think about once they’re in their late 20’s/30’s, however it continues on throughout the rest of our lives. Wrinkled, dry and dehydrated skin is not something that is peculiar to the female gender alone. It cuts across all genders. So, if skin care management makes you look even younger, would you rather look old, worn out and wrinkled? Your call!

 Moisture

Very important – and yet undervalued. Lack of moisture in the skin causes dry leathery skin, pigmentation and all by-products of sun damage. Now, I do realise that one of the factors that put a lot of men off when it comes to skin care; is time and having to deal with lots of products. If going the extra mile will make your skin softer to look at and touch, it’s worth all the stress!

Razor bumps affects about 60 percent of black men, according to the American Osteopathic College of Dermatology. Razor bumps occur when close shaving of tightly curled facial hair results in ingrown hairs. The ingrown hairs cause unsightly and often painful razor bumps, which can cause inflammation and scarring. Now with skin care products like a good soap and cream to mention but a few can manage problems of these issues.
