Kathryn Sargent Makes History!
Kathryn Sargent, has made history after 200 years for being Savile Row’s first female tailor. She has a wide client base and has dressed clients ranging from members of the royal family to David Beckham, and has launched her store at 37 Savile Row.
Kathryn the master tailor, originally from Leeds, spent 15 years at Gieves & Hawkes. During her stay there, she rose through the ranks to be head cutter and became the first female head cutter on Savile Row and eventually branched out to open her first store in Brook Street in 2012.
It is the first time a woman has had her name “above the door” on the world-famous street since tailors began to base themselves there 213 years ago.
Kathryn said she was “thrilled to be making history” but that “being a woman is incidental – I am a tailor first and foremost”.
