This week has been all about Big Shaq and his hilarious but nonsensical viral rap “Mans Not Hot” so it actually feels pretty good to break away from it for a while and treat our ears to what probably is one of the hottest collabs of 2017. After a seven-year hiatus, N.E.R.D. have come back with a new single, “Lemon”, featuring none other than Rihanna herself.

“Lemon” is the first new music coming from Pharrell Williams and the gang since 2010. It premiered on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 show on November 1 and seems to be a part of an integrated marketing campaign with the slogan “No One Ever Really Dies” (which is what NERD stands for) at its forefront.

Rihanna is seen in her IDGAF attitude shaving off a young woman’s hair. The lady in question is Mette Towley, a member of Pharrell’s dance squad known as “The Baes.” The dancer has been praised by Williams years ago when he shared this on Facebook: “Mette is wise beyond her years. She’s a psychic force and all her wires are connected,” with a link to a video about Towley.

The song is literally hijacked by Rihanna and Towley. The latter channels her badass energy while dancing through an empty neon-lit bike shop, while RiRi spits fire with lines like “I get it how I live it / I live it how I get / Count the mothafuckin’ digits…”
