Nigeria’s Super sand Eagle player Abu Azeez has earned himself a nomination for the FIFA Beach Soccer Best Player of the Year Award – a category that contains the names of the world’s top 50 best beach soccer players for 2017.

The 23-year-old has had a quiet career in the Nigeria Professional Football League playing for Kwara United, Warri Wolves, Enyimba and, currently, Shooting Stars.

At the World Cup in the Bahamas, he scored three goals in Nigeria’s opening game against Italy. He also helped the Nigerian team make a remarkable comeback by scoring in their match against Mexico. That goal earned him a Goal of the Tournament award nomination.

The winner of the Best Player Award will be announced at the Beach Soccer Stars Night in Dubai on November 4. The voting, which will be done by coaches and captains of all national teams, will also determine the Best Five Stars of 2017 in beach soccer.

Recently, Nigeria has been making waves in the world of beach soccer. The Super Sand Eagles, the Nigeria national beach soccer team, performed so well that they qualified for the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in the Bahamas this year.
