18-year-old arraigned for raping three sisters same day in Ebonyi

An 18-year-old housekeeper, Ndubuisi Sunday Utom, has been remanded in prison by an Abakaliki Magistrate’s Court for defiling three sisters of the same family, aged between five and eight years.

An 18-year-old housekeeper, Ndubuisi Sunday Utom, has been remanded in prison by an Abakaliki Magistrate’s Court for defiling three sisters of the same family, aged between five and eight years.

According to the first charge, Utom, on September 15, this year, at Amachara Agbor, Afikpo-Abakaliki in Abakaliki Magisterial District, did unlawfully have carnal knowledge of the eldest of the three girls, aged eight years, thereby committing an offence punishable under Section 358 of the Criminal Code Cap 33 Vol. 1 Laws of Ebonyi State of Nigeria 2009”

The second said Utom, on the same date and place, unlawfully had carnal knowledge of the second of the sisters, aged seven years, thereby committing an offence punishable under the above laws.

Count 3 stated that Utom, on the same date and place, unlawfully had carnal knowledge of the third girl, aged five years, and thereby committing an offence punishable under the same.

The suspect, whose plea could not taken, as the matter was not under the jurisdiction of the court, was ordered by the presiding Magistrate, Mr. Olughu Nnachi, to be remanded in the Abakaliki Federal Prisons and the case file transmitted to the Department for Public Prosecution (DPP) for necessary action.

In a related development, 24-year-old Ejike Igbota Nwite, male, of Okoffia Ezza in Abakaliki Magisterial District, was ordered remanded by the same court in the same prison for having carnal knowledge of one 20-year-old Unah Ezinne at Ezza South Council of the state.The case file was also consequently transferred to the DPP for consequent actions.
