2019 election: Monarch wants Nigerians armed with PVCs
The Maigarin Lokoja, Alhaji Muhammadu Kabir Maikarfi III, has implored Nigerians to ensure they don’t only register but also obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVC) to enable them vote leaders of their choice.
The Maigarin, in his Sallah message, expressed worry over people’s reluctance to collect their cards after registering and having their PVCs printed.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner for Kogi State, Prof. James Apam, had expressed disappointment that as at June 12, 2018, only 7,943 cards out of the 112,333 printed for the state had been collected.
Maikarfi asked those who lost their PVCs to approach the local government area offices of INEC for replacement.
He said they should be aware that the PVC remains their power to vote-in leaders of their choice.
He cautioned Nigerians against hate speeches and challenged politicians to be honest and base their campaigns on issues rather than attacking of personalities.
The royal father also called on the Muslim Ummah and Christians to pray for peace in the nation and development.
