Mr Goddy Inyama, a 30-year old has been arraigned before a Magistrate court in Lagos for allegedly raping a pre-teen girl.

Inyama was brought before the Ajegunle Magistrate court by Police Inspector Augustine Ejembi for defiling the 10-year old both vaginally and anally.

The defendant pled not guilty to the three-count charge of non-consensual vaginal and anal sex as well as groping the breasts of the girl.

The prosecutor, Ejembi said: “Inyama sexually penetrated the anus, vagina and other parts of the victim’s body. He had sex with the girl through her anus and vagina and also touched her sexually without her consent.”

He said that the incident occurred at about 7pm, May 6, 2018 at Sogbesan street, Apapa.

Ejembi said that the offences committed are punishable Under Sections 263 (1), 261 and 137, of the Criminal laws of Lagos State, 2015.

The criminal law in section 263(1)  states:  Any person who causes another to engage in a sexual to engage in sexual activity without that other person’s consent is guilty of a felony and is liable to imprisonment for five years.

Section 261 states: Any person who sexually touches another person without his consent is guilty of a felony and liable to  imprisonment for three years. In this section, touching may be done with any part of the body or with anything else.

Meanwhile, section 137 states: Any person who has unlawful sexual intercourse with a child is guilty of a felony, and is liable to imprisonment for life.

Inyama was granted bail by Magistrate Mrs Ajayi to the sum of N500,000, with two sureties in like sum with the case adjourned till September 20.
