THREE persons were feared dead, yesterday, as Lagos state witnessed another boat mishap.

The incident comes one week after a 20-passenger vessel sank in the Ikorodu area, killing seven persons.

Confirming the occurrence, the Director of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Michael Akindele, said the boat capsized around Iworo Ajido Road by Arabian Bus stop, Badagry.

Akindele said the four people rescued alive are currently receiving treatment, adding that the agency received the distressed call through the state’s emergency call number at about 10.47am yesterday.

“The agency immediately activated necessary emergency responders, which include RRS, LASWA, NIMASA and local divers. Search and rescue is still ongoing. The total number of passengers is yet to be confirmed,” he said.

The LASEMA boss said although some people are still missing, it would be wrong to conclude that they have all died.
