Ondo State governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, has unveiled plans to celebrate his first year in office with the commissioning and flag-off of new projects.

Chairman of the 31-member planning committee and Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Wale Akinterinwa, with his Information and Orientation counterpart, Mr. Yemi Olowolabi, disclosed this during a press conference at the weekend.

He said there would be an anniversary lecture tomorrow at the International Culture and Event Centre in Akure, titled, ‘Rethinking the Nigerian Nationhood: Issues and Challenges’.

It will be delivered by Prof. Akin Oyebode and chaired by a former Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Alani Akinrinade.

The one-week programme, according to him, would include football matches, Jumat service, and musical concerts.

Akinterinwa, who assured that the anniversary would be modest due to current economic challenge, also unveiled plans to give award to indigenes that performed excellently in national examinations. There will also be a media chat with the governor on his stewardship.

There will be a presentation of N100,000 empowerment fund to 180 women each across the 18 local council areas, and launching of the Olori Connection in Idanre, and Tech-up at the Federal University of Technology Akure.

The event will end with an inter-denominational service on Sunday, February 25, 2018, at Democracy Park, Akure.
