Wife of Ondo State Governor, Arabinrin Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, in her bid to ensure women are better educated and sensitised about cancer, has officially lunched the Lagos State Chapter of Breast Cancer Association of Nigeria (BRECAN).

Arabinrin Akeredolu revealed that many victims of the diseases are facing serious financial challenges, reason there is need for support for breast cancer victims, especially because fighting the disease is not easy.

Apart from raising fund to support the fight, she said her organisation would also embark on research to eradicate cancer. “Let us identify with breast cancer patients and join in creating awareness so that our women will not continue to die of preventable diseases because cancer is no respecter of persons, as early detection and prompt action remain the solution.”

Wife of Lagos State Governor, Mrs Bolanle Ambode, assured the association of her cooperation and support.

The National President, BRECAN, Mrs. Juliet Ogbogu explained that BRECAN was established in 1997 after Arabinrin Akeredolu survived the scourge which made her decide to educate women on the disease. She described Mrs Akeredolu as a woman with good heart.
