Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode met with some editors last week, where he revealed the direction his administration is headed in the course of 2017.

Respite may have finally come for many residents and motorists, who make use of roads around Ladipo Market, as Lagos State Government announced it would commence an extensive rehabilitation of major link roads across the state, including roads in and around the popular spare-parts market.

The state government said this was in continuation of its drive to ensure smooth flow of traffic in the area.Deputy Director, Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, Mr. Sina Thorpe, in a statement yesterday, said government has decided to rehabilitate and upgrade the roads around Ladipo area to a dual carriage way.

He said the rehabilitation is necessary having realised the economic value of Ladipo Street, a 2.87km road that connects Agege Motor Road to Apapa-Oshodi Expressway service lane at Toyota Bus Stop.

Thorpe, who was responding to a report in The Guardian of Thursday, November 30, that traders at the Ladipo Auto Spare Parts Market area were lamenting the state of the roads, said the state government was also rehabilitating and upgrading Alhaja Akinwunmi Street, a strategic road that connects Ladipo Street to Apapa Oshodi Expressway at Five Star Bus Stop.

Also, to be fixed are Obagun road, which links Badejo Kalejaiye Street with Fatai Atere Way, which in turn connects Ladipo Street with Agege Motor Road.

He said the ongoing expansion and upgrading of the Oshodi International Airport Road would also ease the traffic flow in the area.
He therefore urged road users and commuters along the corridor to cooperate with the contractor so as to deliver the road projects on deadline.
