Anambra House of Assembly has passed a bill to stop government’s revenue agents from diverting the state’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) to personal accounts.

The member representing Orumba North Constituency, Romanus Obi, who sponsored the bill also led the debate during plenary yesterday.

He said the bill has introduced a new system of payment in the state known as use of bank point of sales for collection of government taxes, levies and sundry revenues.

According to the lawmaker, the bill was proposed to increase the state IGR and prevent the diversion of government money into a private purse.
