The Head of Service, Anambra State, Barrister Harry Udu and the Managing Director, Anambra Newspapers and Printing Corporation, Sir Chuka Nnabuife have advised financial institutions in the state to always fulfill their obligations of contributing their quota monetarily, as well as redeeming their civic duties while enjoying facilities provided by government.

Both spoke while reacting to the sealing of some branches of the United Bank for Africa in the state following its failure to pay tax valued to be N6.9b.

While Udu expressed worry that UBA allowed itself to get involved in such a mess, calling on the bank to redeem its glory, Nnabuife described tax evasion as a big offence, which should attract sanctions.

The HOS described the development as very unfortunate and wondered why it lasted for several weeks. He urged civil servants banking with the bank to exercise patience and take the situation as a sacrifice to the state.
