APC, activist condemn arrest, detention of Sylva’s ex-aide
The leadership of the Bayelsa State chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC) and an activist, Doifie Buokoribo have condemned the arrest and subsequent detention of a loyalist to former governor Timipre Sylva, Barr. Jonah.
While the APC described the arrest as a proof of the level of intimidation meted on the opposition in the state, Buokoribo, expressed serious concern over the disdain at which the state government is displaying impunity.
The APC, in a statement issued yesterday via email and signed by the Party Publicity Secetary, Panebi Fortune, called on the Federal Government to investigate this impunity and total breach of human rights.
The party condemned strongly the arrest of innocent Bayelsans for constructively criticizing the state government, for better governance, describing the gestapo action of the police as unconstitutional, uncivil and an abuse of his fundamental right.
