Oshiomhole’s aide debunks rigging plot
Chieftians of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Etsako West Local Council area yesterday endorsed Godwin Obaseki and his running mate Phillip Shaibu.

The party members, led by Matthias Momoh, pledged their support at the office of the speaker of the state House of Assembly, Justin Okonoboh.

On the entourage were the immediate past chairman of the council, Alhassan Mohammed Idaro and other top party members in the north senatorial district of the state.

Momoh said: “As a people and loyal members, we have confidence in you as a leader whom we can count on whenever the occasion demands.”

The speaker, while appreciating them for the show of love and support, urged them to come out en masse to vote at the polls.

He expressed confidence that they will support the party because the area has, over the years, been a traditional supporter of the APC.

Meanwhile, the Executive Director, Media and Public Affairs to Governor Adams Oshiomhole, John Mayaki, has debunked an allegation by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that it planned to rig the election.

The PDP’s candidate, Pastor Ize-Iyamu, had recently accused the APC of the plot.

According to him, Ize-Iyamu’s statement was a concession of defeat even before the election, since nothing like that was being contemplated.

Mayaki said: “The values cherished by the Edo man and woman cannot be mistaken. The PDP and its candidate are rattled by the looming rejection ahead of them and the only theory left is to allege the rigging plan.”

He said Ize-Iyamu probably made the statement after his campaign of “I will do this and that” had collapsed against Godwin Obaseki’s campaign of “We have done A, B, C and still counting.”

He alleged: “The PDP is sliding back to the most shameful chapters of history by appealing to the ugly impulse of our society. But we need to stand up as a people rich in culture and values and reject the PDP.”

Mayaki restated: “This election is between promises made by the PDP and the physical development achieved by the Oshiomhole’s administration.”
