Bauchi governor frees 22 inmates to mark anniversary

Bauchi State Governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar has ordered the release of 22 inmates from the state’s main prison to mark Nigeria’s 56th independence anniversary.

Abubakar disclosed this yesterday during his official independence day broadcast.

He said his administration was committed to meet the yearning and aspirations of people, adding: “Let me reiterate the commitment of the present administration in the protection of lives and property of the people and as well as ensuring qualitative and functional educational to our people.

“We suffered serious setbacks in the political arena, which seriously affected our political and economic growth.

“The prevalence of military in the political spectrum of our country had seriously retarded the evolution of democracy and it’s inherent benefits.”
