Buhari meets Saraki, Dogara in London

By Tonye Bakare   |   15 February 2017   |   9:02 pm

Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday evening met with the leaders of the Nigerian National Assembly in London.

Senate President Bukola Saraki, Speaker, House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara and the Senate majority leader, Ahmed Lawan met with the president at the Abuja House, according to a message posted on the official Twitter handle of the Presidency.

Buhari left Nigeria in January for London to “undergo routine medical check-ups” during a short holiday and was expected to resume work on February 6.

But he later extended the vacation on the advice of his doctors, his spokesman, Femi Adesina said.

“President Muhammadu Buhari has written to the National Assembly today, February 5, 2017, informing of his desire to extend his leave in order to complete and receive the results of a series of tests recommended by his doctors,” Adesina said in a statement.

“The President had planned to return to Abuja this (Sunday) evening but was advised to complete the test cycle before returning. The notice has since been dispatched to the Senate President, and Speaker, House of Representatives.

“Mr President expresses his sincere gratitude to Nigerians for their concern, prayers and kind wishes.”

Buhari’s current visit to London would make it the second time in less than a year he has gone there for medical treatment.

He visited London in June 2016 for treatment to what the presidency described as a persistent inner ear infection, which caused him to pull out of several scheduled engagements. But his latest visit, however, has been dogged by the rumours of his death.

Could this be real news. Because they were in parlour instead of hospital. And we were meant to understand that his coming back to Nigeria is unknow.

@Nesta, as someone residing out there, does the Abuja house in London serve as a hospital or clinic also ??

I live abroad and its a winter time none could dress like this in this season. no matter how warm your apartment could be, this is a summer pictures. you media can no longer fool Nigerians anymore!

    • Ojiyovwi

You can dress casually-smart as these appear to. The real issue is why our people are being deprived of their elected president? Thankfully, Oshinbajo is probably more competent in that role as luck will have it for our suffering folks.

LOL, you must be a poor man indeed… Fairly comfortable persons in Europe keep the inner parts of their residences sufficiently warm at all times, so they won’t need to wear more than a single layer of clothing while within.

Saraki, Dogara etc. went to their master Britain as puppets, to be told what to do with Yoruba their errand slave.

For mentioning YORUBA as errand slave, it will never be well with your race by His Grace. Your entire household shall suffer till eternity henceforth by the power of the MOST HIGH. so shall it be.

What is visiting a sick President got to do with “Yoruba their errand slave”? Citizens of “There was a country” need to get over the loss of the last election. Was it “went to their master Britain as puppets” that made your brothers to do ethnic cleansing of the leadership of the country in the 60’s by killing Balewa, Akintola, Okotieboh, Ahmadu Bello and sparing Zik, Okpara and Osadebay. To me, these are just rantings of poor losers. By the way, what is stopping you people from starting the war all over again? We are sick and tired of this whining every time the power play at the center is not in your favor. The agitation for Biafra was muted during the mindless looting that characterized the Ineffectual Buffoon’s govt, but renewed after the present govt signaled the end of that nonsense.
