The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt-Gen. Tukur Buratai, yesterday met with troops of 27 Task Force Brigade, Buni/Yadi in Yobe State and commenced special training with troops of Nigerian Army Special Force School.

Commandant of the School, Brig-Gen. Moundhey Gadzama Ali, who drilled the COAS through the special training, later presented him with a certificate at a ceremony where the soldiers promised to deliver Shekau to him dead or alive.

Buratai had embarked on visit to troops in the frontline of Operation Lafiya Dole to raise the morale of soldiers, following directives of Acting President Yemi Osinbajo for military service chiefs to relocate to the Military Command and Control Centre in Maiduguri, headquarters of Operation Lafiya Dole.

Buratai had on Tuesday departed Maiduguri for Damaturu after a strategic meeting with other military service chiefs in Maiduguri, where they brainstormed on new tactics of routing remnants of Boko Haram insurgents in the northeast.

While in Buni/Yadi, the headquarters of Gujba C council, Buratai interacted with the troops to get firsthand information on their problems, which promised to correct very soon.

Some of the soldiers, who spoke to journalists, expressed delight over the visit and the COAS close interaction with them, saying the visit has given them hope and confidence to end the fight against the insurgents within a very short time.

Buratai had earlier charged troops of 3 Division, Tactical Headquarters in Damaturu not to rest on their oars in the fight against the
insurgents and called on them to remain alert.

He also visited the Emir of Damaturu, Alhaji Shehu Hashimi II Ibn Umar El-Kanemi, where he solicited the support of the traditional institution in the fight against Boko Haram by mobilising his subjects to assist the security forces through the provision of useful information that could lead to arrest and prosecution of the insurgents.
