The President, Christ Apostolic Church and former Chairman, Christian Association of Nigerian (CAN), Pastor Abraham Akinosun, has called on President Buhari to tackle alleged killings by Fulani herdsmen by ensuring the appointment of security chiefs is evenly distributed across the nation’s geopolitical zones.

He said this, yesterday, at the end of a seven-day programme themed: ‘Nigeria Must Be Redeemed’. The event, which featured fasting and prayer for forgiveness for Nigerians, was held at Ikoyi Mountain, Osun State.

Akinosun said the current situation where security chiefs are mainly from one part of the country, fuels suggestions they are conniving with the herdsmen. He said there are indications the herdsmen are being sponsored. “If Nigerians knew the danger this portends, we would all cry unto God and He would respond,” he said.

Also, Chairman of Plateau State Christian Welfare Board, Rev. Yakubu Pam, said religious and traditional rulers should adopt communication channels to end killings in parts of the country. He stated this at the weekend, when officials of the Christian Council of Nigeria paid him a solidarity visit in Jos.
