Abuja residents will today hold a special walk aimed at creating cancer awareness and to seek better deal for people suffering from the ailment. Leading the walk are Richard Mofe-Damijo, Joke Silva, Francis Duru, Toyin Aimakhu among others. Part of the activities lined up for the day is a star-studded stage play on cancer.

The play entitled ‘Fight Cancer’ revolves around an ambitious, vibrant politician and family woman whose marriage is troubled and is diagnosed with cancer in the middle of the biggest election of her career.

Meanwhile, wife of Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Zainab Bagudu, has decried the increased spread of cancer in the country. Bagudu, a pediatric consultant and founder of MedicAid Cancer Foundation, also announced that over 30 nurses would be trained to improve their capacity to handle cancer screening, using Inspection with Acetic Acid (VIA) or Visual Inspection with Lugol’s Iodine (VILI).

Over 3000 women are to be screened in Kebbi State.
