Cattle breeders vow to apprehend impostors in South East
Cattle rearers under the umbrella of Miyetti Allah Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) have vowed to apprehend criminals pretending to be herdsmen in the South East region.
The chairman of the association in the South East, Alhaji Gidado Siddiki during a meeting yesterday at Amansea cattle ground in Awka, Anambra State said those parading as herdsmen are not genuine.
He pleaded with the host communities in the zone not to eject them.
Siddiki said: “We counsel our members in the South East to report any unpleasant encounter to me or any other leader who will notify relevant authorities for prompt action. They are advised not to resort to violence.
“We also insist that other members who are coming from neighbouring states should obtain clearance from the chairman of MACBAN of the area they are coming from. This will validate their identity, put them under our authority and avail them of the privileges of our membership.”
He said MACBAN is ready to assist security agencies in arresting criminals unleashing terror on various communities nationwide.
Siddiki commended Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra and his Enugu counterpart Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for maintaining cordial relationship with herdsmen in their states.
