SIX days after the collapse of Makaval Hotel in Effurun, Delta State, the General Overseer of the Christ Mercyland Deliverance Ministry, Prophet Jeremiah Omoto Fufeyin, has described as wicked reports making the rounds that members of its church had a hand in the collapse of the hotel. The hotel, it was learnt, suddenly collapsed last Wednesday trapping several people.

No casualty had been reported so far, but several people were reported severely injured and receiving treatment at various hospitals in Warri and environ.

It was alleged that many of the lodgers at the hotel were members of Christ Mercyland Deliverance Ministry. Prophet Jeremiah Fufeyin said his members did not lodge in the hotel when the incident happened, describing the statement credited to him as “wicked and malicious.”

He explained that the church has its own guest house that can accommodate a lot of visitors coming to the church. “Our visitors only lodge there about two years ago but since the last 20 months that we’ve built our own guest houses that can accommodate hundreds of persons, none of our visitors have lodged in Makaval hotel”, Fufeyin said.

Insisting that his church has nothing to do with the hotel collapse, the General Overseer of the church revealed he had earlier advised the owner of the hotel concerning the unstable condition of the place, but he did not heed his warning.
