Archbishop Ignatius Kaigama,

The Archbishop of Jos, Most Reverend Ignatius Kaigama, has called for genuine dialogue across ethnic, religious and political boundaries to resolve differences, stressing that inter or intra ethnic/religious violence has never brought victory to anyone or group.

In his homily to the EXCO of the National Laity Council at its 133rd meeting held at St. Monica’s Church, Jos, he noted that teaching young people to be hostile to their so-called enemies, instead of imbibing the culture of dialogue has led some of our youths to the perfect art of killing and destruction at the slightest provocation.

Speaking on the topic, ‘Be A Christian In Full Measure Not By Half,’ the Archbishop said knives, swords, bombs and guns have not brought victory to anyone or group.

He said, “ when we hear the youths from the North East, South West and Niger Delta areas threatening to destroy the economy, the unity and corporate existence of this nation, the question is, do they know the implication of war? Of all their boasting, has any group really won a war in this country? We are all losers.”

Commending the springing up of different NGOs working for dialogue, reconciliation and peace, he urged Nigerians to keep talking to one another frequently, openly and sincerely for peace.
