Cognisant of the disposition towards Physics as a subject and course, a lecturer in the Department of Applied Physics, Faculty of Science, University of Lagos (UNILAG), Dr. Uzoma Oduah, has unveiled a book to make the discipline more attractive for students and undergraduates.

During the launch of the five-volume work at Akoka, Yaba, Lagos, the university teacher said the move followed a persistent push by a former student of his and a co-author, Victor Nwaekwu, who was always on his neck to put in print his scholarly lectures and erudite presentations for coming generations to benefit from.

According to Oduah, the piece of learning with over 300 diagrams and entitled: Revised Physics For Institutions Of Learning, is encyclopedic, treating topics in very simplest form to enable secondary school students have deeper knowledge of the subject, while it also serves a repository for undergraduates taking Physics as a course.

The don noted that the book was written in the Nigerian context, adding that the event was to raise funds so he could make the material available in libraries of all institutions of learning nationwide.

Oduah said: “This book contains all that is needed to be known about Physics.”The doctorate degree holder of Physics Electronics relived with satisfaction that the project provided a solid background in Physics for students seeking admission into higher institutions and a synopsis for undergraduates.

To the book reviewer and United States-based university teacher, Professor Segun Odion, the research work was detailed and catered well for the needs of the targeted audience in the field of Physics.

He lauded Oduah for the effort, noting that: “There is a lot that go into writing. He went beyond not just interpretation but also application of Physics.”

Emphasising the Nigerian contextual angle of the book, Odion charged: “It is written by one of your own. We owe it to ourselves to support him so he can succeed in his writing career.”
