• Storm local councils for job forms
• ‘We will win beyond imagination’

Unemployed youths in the state yesterday pledged to vote for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s candidate, Prof. Kolapo Olusola Eleka, if guaranteed employment.

This followed Governor Ayodele Fayose promise to employ them under the provisional offer of 2,000 jobs in the state’s civil service.

The forms are obtainable in the 16 local council areas of the state from June 19 to 22.

Many applicants queued up yesterday at the new Pavilion in Fajuyi park area of Ado-Ekiti, to obtain free employment forms.

They expressed appreciation to the state government for the opportunity.

The Chairman of Ado Local Government Area, Olufemi Clement and some of his aides, distributed the employment forms to the job seekers.

He promised to ensure that due process was followed in the distribution, irrespective of their party affiliations.

The governor said the job opportunities are for applicants with primary school certificate, up to the tertiary level.

Clement explained that the crowd was huge because: “The forms for job placement are being collected in all the 16 local government areas of the state. But Ado is peculiar because many applicants from other local government areas have been rushing here to collect their forms.”

He urged applicants who could not get the form to wait till tomorrow to ensure that they go round.

One of the job seekers, who is a graduate of Economics and Geography from the College of Education, Ikere Ekiti, said: “We are happy about the opportunity to get free forms for employment, courtesy of our amiable governor Fayose.”

Also, Olubisi Victoria Adenekan, from Ado Local Government and a graduate of Christian Religious Studies from Tai Solarin University of Education, Ogun State, lamented that she had searched for teaching job since 2004.

“I have ensured that I have my Permanent Voters Card (PVC) to enable me to vote for Kolapo-Eleka for the continuation of Fayose’s good works.

The applicants urged transparency in the process, rather than nepotism.

Meanwhile, the PDP has reiterated that it would win the election. A statement by the state Publicity Secretary of the party, Jackson Adebayo, said the party would be victorious, even if President Mohammadu Buhari moves a whole garrison to help the APC.

He dismissed the purported defection of some ‘disgruntled’ members of the party, adding that they are only destined to share from the imminent failure of APC at the forthcoming poll.
