A 38-year old man identified as Ubaka Okeleke, has been arrested by the police for allegedly using minors to steal computers in Idumuje-Uno Mixed Secondary School, Idumuje-Uno in Aniocha North Local Government Area, Delta State.

The suspect, also said to be a staff of the school, lured the three minors, who are students of the school, with promise to ‘settle’ them if they were successful.

However, luck ran out on them after the security man on duty alerted the principal of the school who subsequently informed the community vigilantes and police of the development.

According to sources, before security operatives could reach the scene, the suspects had stolen 18 laptops and delivered to Ubaka, who escaped with them leaving the minors to the mercy of the security men, who arrested them.

Police sources told The Guardian that upon interrogation after their arrest, the three minors confessed and following an intensive search, Ubaka was arrested with some of the items.

Consequently, he was charged before an Issele-Uku Chief Magistrates’ Court on four-count charges of conspiracy and stealing. The trial Magistrate, Vincent Okonta, granted them bail in the sum of N100, 000 each and a surety that must be resident within the jurisdiction, adding that the court must verify the property of the surety. The case was adjourned to August 9, 2017 for hearing.
