The Federal Government has reiterated the need for states to fast-track developing a state-focused medium term plan with reference to the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (ERGP) to achieve significant delivery of the objectives of the plan.

Permanent Secretary,, Ministry of Budget and National Planning, Olajide Samson Odewale, stated this yesterday at the opening of the 17th Joint Planning Board (JPB) and National Council on Development Planning (NCDP) meeting in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

In a statement yesterday in Abuja, signed by the Director of Press, MBNP, Victoria Agba-Attah, Odewale told the states that the ministry, as the government agency responsible for the overall co-ordination and management of development plan for the country, stands ever ready to provide technical support to the states in this regard.

“The ERGP was developed in response to the economic challenges at the inception of this administration, which culminated in a recession in the second quarter of 2016. The plan was therefore designed not only to get the economy out of recession, but to place it on the path of diversified, sustainable and inclusive growth,” he said.
