Office of the Osun State governor, Rauf Aregbesola, was on Monday gutted by fire.

According to an eyewitness, the fire started around 4 pm and was devastating as the security doors leading to the office could not be opened as it raged.

The state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Adelani Baderinwa in a statement said “The fire incident was as a result of power surge which occurred at one of the Air Conditioners inside the office of the Governor.”

Baderinwa said the fire outbreak was as a result of the state’s power company, Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) , inability to supply ‘standard’ electricity.

He, however, said “not a single document, or equipment was destroyed and nobody was hurt.”

They “have been persistently unable to regulate the supply of power to meet the necessary standard,” he said.

He urged the IBEDC to “save this situation by conforming with the rules and regulations of electricity supply.”
