Foundation fetes orphanage kids
A non-governmental organisation, Child Hero Global Care Foundation (CHEGCAF) recently hosted children from 10 orphanages to a party in Lagos, with lots of prizes and gifts after some dazzling performances as part of activities to mark its third anniversary and annual funfair.
The children were hosted to a variety of fun-filled activities, which included dance, choreography, spelling bee, rhymes, and singing. Also, comedians took turns to entertain them to a good laugh.
The founder of the foundation, Chinonye Chidolue, said the programme was the maiden edition organised since its inception to show love and share for the less privileged in the society.
“We have been doing this for years, we started with vocational training once every May to December, where we teach them how to be resourceful and how they can do things on their own to help them advance in future. We do this by going to orphanage homes to teach them a particular skill and inculcating in the less privileged children virtues such as team spirit, leadership and selflessness,“ she said.
The activist, who is passionate about children and studied law to become a social advocate for children, said the foundation will also support destitute kids by providing them with vocational and employable skills while granting scholarships to children whose parents cannot cater for their education.
“The government needs to do a lot for the children and do a regular check-up to see how the welfare of the children are been maintained and also set up rules and regulations in terms of implementation and management of orphanages.”
