The inability or failure of the Taraba State Government to bring to book, perpetrators of the recent Mambilla mayhem between the Fulani and the Mambilla in Sardauna Local Government Council of Taraba state, has become a source of worry to the Fulani Nation.

In a press statement yesterday made available to The Guardian, the Fulani ethnic group who noted the crisis was a direct attack on them could not fathom why steps are yet to be taken to bring to book persons behind the “attacks, killing and displacement of the Fulani living in Mambilla Plateau of Taraba state.”

The statement, which was signed by leaders of the group that included Alhaji Ahmadu Bello and Abdulmumini Umar, debunked the rumour presently making the rounds that a round table dialogue has been held between the Fulani and the Mambilla ethnic groups. Disassociating themselves from the acclaimed “round table dialogue” they are “still waiting for justice to be done to our oppressed families” drumming that “ we are calling on government at all levels and their concerned authorities to speed up measures that would bring the perpetrators of this barbaric act or genocide against the Fulani of the Mambilla Plateau to book.”

Observing that isolated killings of cattle in the area is still rife, they noted that the Fulani domiciling in Mambilla are the only “group in the history of the Fulani race that have been attacked about five times without carrying out reprisals.”
