GOtv Ambassador and veteran singer, Daddy Showkey, has urged educationists and concerned stakeholders in the sector to ensure regular teaching of vocational skills in the country’s institution of learning saying this will enable students become self-reliant.

Showkey, who featured as the GoTV guest artist at the 2017 graduation ceremony of Rybeka Model Schools, Ajegunle, Lagos, said nothing would benefit the society more than making children acquire vocational skills and positively impart the society.

Noting that vocational skills also have the capacity to reduce unemployment in the country, he said, “I always advise people that there is nothing greater than making a child develop a skill. I could remember that in my time, I used to represent my school in debate competitions and those things have helped me today. Vocational skills promote entrepreneurship.

“I am strongly advocating that government and all stakeholders should ensure regular teaching of vocational studies and ensure it is strong part of the school curriculum. The reason most people today are waiting for government to provide jobs is because of lack of vocational training.

To make learning more interactive, he presented a GOtv decoder as a digital learning platform to four students of the college for emerging the best in the senior and junior secondary schools, primary six and nursery arm.

The school’s Director of Studie“It is our goal to develop the child mentally, physically, emotionally and socially. Daddy Showkey’s humble beginnings, life toils and success, which he shared with our students, show that any child, who is ambitious and backs it with action, will excel in life,” he added.
