Plans to make Taraba State inhabitable for cattle rustlers and other perpetrators of vices, ranging from kidnaping to armed robbery, have begun to yield positive results, as no fewer than 119 cattle were, yesterday, recovered by the state government.

The castle were recovered from rustlers in Sansani Village of Bali local council during which Yahaya Muhammed believed to be one of the owners of the stolen cows was reported killed.

In a statement signed by the Deputy Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr. Illiya Bekyu Akweh, the governor expressed government readiness to clamp down on hoodlums terrorising the state.

Even though the vigilantes and the security operatives successfully recovered the cows, the rustlers at the time of filing in this report were said to have been at large.

Elated by the development, the governor, Darius Dickson Ishaku, vowed to bring perpetrators to book.

Parts of the statement reads, “my administration would not condone any act of criminality in the state; any one caught perpetuating crime in the state, be it kidnapping, cattle rustling, ethno-religious crisis, armed robbery and others will be made to face the full wrath of the law.”

Commending the vigilante group for their efforts to assist government in flushing out the undesirable elements from the state, he said his administration would partner with any organisation to achieve lasting peace in the state.
