Gowon condemns killings, urges peace
Former Military Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon, yesterday condemned the killings in parts of the country, urging Nigerians to work for the peace of the nation.
Speaking yesterday in Ibadan as guest of honour at the 85th birthday and 60th anniversary of Emeritus Professor Oladipo Akinkugbe as a medical doctor, the elder statesman maintained that the country’s unity was non-negotiable.
The don used the occasion to mark his 50th anniversary as a professor of medicine and exit from practice.Gowon tasked the citizenry on tolerance, understanding, brotherliness and patriotism.
