To make life easier for nursing mothers and pregnant women, V14 Ventures, at the weekend donated baby, food and hospital items to some women at the St. Kizito Clinic, Jakande, Lekki, Lagos, just as it paid the child delivery bills of three pregnant women.

Items donated include diapers, wears, creams, powder, food items, baby crib, swing, walker, feeding bottles, among others, while a total of N112,000 was paid for virginal delivery and immunization.

The charity event, which is held yearly, had nursing mothers and their babies, pregnant women, and the hospital management received the items, as the women were tutored on investment strategies to cope with recession and post-natal depression.

Founder/Chief Executive Officer of V14 Ventures, Valentina Hynes, said the organization focuses on communities that need help, as they mobilise members of the public and companies to support the project for the vulnerable and less privileged in society.

She added that this year’s focus on women was important as most women during their pregnancy stage and at childbirth do not have the privilege to pay for their bills as well as cater for their babies, which she said poses threat to their development.

Founder, Rising Up From The Ashes (RUFTA), Olabisi Usidame, who is also a partner, said it was necessary for nursing mothers to save for their children’s upkeep.“We not only want to help these women meet their material needs but also to educate them. The economy is not favourable, you can’t just keep having children and banking on people to help you out. We sensitize them on the need to build a savings culture so that when their children grow up, they don’t have to struggle through life.”
